25 December 2005 to 9 January 2006
Darren, Ben, Jill and me visited Lima for one day, then flew to Cusco (one hour flight, instead of 30 hours drive) to acclimatize at it's over 10,000+ feet. We took a very tough, but memorable 4 day trek on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu at 14,000+ feet. Check out the sample itinerary at United Mice. Afterwards, we went down to Puno for the Isla Flotantes (Floating Islands) on Lake Titicaca then crossed the border into Copacabana before ending in La Paz, Bolivia. We also went bicycling down the World's Most Dangerous Road to Coroico.
